and Bobby (Lowe) Steele Golden Wedding
In
October 1934, Donald Eugene Steele and Barbara Alice Lowe were married
at her parents’ home in the Mar
Vista region of Venice. The ceremony was
held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, 11 October. Dr. James
Hamilton
Lash, minister of Hollywood’s Congregational Church, performed the
service. Bobby’s sister‑in‑law, Marjorie
Lowe, was the matron of honor. Marge had
married Bobby’s brother, Jerry, who had first introduced Bobby and Don
over a bridge game. The best man was Don’s roommate from Caltech,
Homer McWilliams. Bobby was given away
in marriage by her father, Frank Lowe.
In the Fall of 1984, Don and Bobby traveled by train from Los Angeles
to Chicago to celebrate fifty years of marriage. celebrated
their Golden Wedding anniversary at Chicago’s Whitehall Hotel
Their three sons, two daughters‑in‑law, and two
grandchildren joined them for the celebration on October 9.
